Dogs can perceive changes in weather

Animals are naturally sensitive-even the slightest disturbance can put them on high alert, watching and listening in every direction. Therefore, apart from the approach of strangers, if a dog suddenly becomes restless or barks incessantly, it is very likely reacting to a change in the weather-perhaps a storm is approaching, or smog is settling in.
Pets are often far more perceptive than humans when it comes to environmental changes; subtle shifts in air pressure, humidity, temperature, and smell can all trigger their alertness and unease, and even the faint rumble of distant thunder, a sudden drop in atmospheric pressure, or a shift in wind direction may be enough to make them anxious.
Some dogs may also tremble, pant, hide, or become clingy, while others may lose their appetite or have difficulty settling down. As owners, we should pay close attention to changes in our dogs' mood and behavior, judge them in light of the weather conditions, and offer timely comfort and companionship-whether by keeping them calm indoors, providing a safe and quiet space, closing windows to block out noise, or simply staying by their side and reassuring them with a gentle voice.
Creating a stable, familiar routine is equally important, as it helps reduce their sense of uncertainty during weather shifts. By doing so, we can help them get through the discomfort caused by the changing environment, so that pets can stay calm and comfortable even in fickle weather and continue to enjoy a healthy, happy life.
