How To Maintain A Pet Cage
Leave a message
1. Clean the cage. Don't rush to oil your newly bought pet cage, clean the inside and outside of the bird cage first. First remove the floating ash from the cage with a soft brush, and then wipe the cage with a cotton cloth dampened with water. Remember, the cotton is just damp, don't stick too much water. After wiping, place in a cool place to dry.
2. Polished. Smooth out any burrs on the cage. Sand carefully with sandpaper to make sure there are no other scars on the cage. After polishing, cover the cage cloth upside down and place it in a cool place (not a vent) for a week to allow the cage to adjust to the ambient humidity.
3. Apply the first coat of oil. Use a cotton cloth dipped in silicone oil to lightly coat the outside of the cage so that the entire cage (except the bottom) is coated with silicone oil. The thickness of silicone oil should be applied to the cage without dripping. Sprinkle a little more on the large circle. After application, place it in a large plastic bag in a cool place. This is important, mainly to prevent dust from sticking to the cage. After standing for a week, the bamboo can basically drink the first oil. Remove the cage after one week and use the suede handle to wipe clean inside and out, then slowly fry the pan for half an hour twice a day for a week.
4. Apply the second oil. Then apply a second coat of oil. For the second layer, apply some oil in a few circles, do not rub oil on the bamboo strips. The oiling method is the same as above. After applying the oil, still cover with a plastic bag and keep in a cool place for a week. Then follow the above method for another week.
5. Apply the first coat of wax. Take the wax you made yourself and apply a little cotton cloth to the outside surface of the cage. Apply in a thin layer, not too much, and apply evenly. Both the circles and the bamboo strips are coated and placed in a plastic bag for 20 days. Then remove the cage and wipe the solid wax (especially between the bamboo strips) from the cage with a cotton cloth. There is still wax on the surface of the cage, which is sticky to the touch, but don't worry as long as it doesn't clump together. After applying this wax, don't rush the pan, just apply the third wax.
6. Apply a third coat of oil. Just like the first oil, spread all over the cage. Then put it in a plastic bag and let it sit for two weeks. Then use a cotton cloth to wipe off any residual oil and wax inside and outside the cage, and use the previous method for another 20 days.
7. Apply a second coat of wax. The method is the same as the first waxing. After applying, let it sit for two weeks, take it out, wipe it clean, and use the suede disc for a month. The cages wiped out by the above procedure are basically patina when they are plated with the third coat of oil. After all was completed, the surface of the cage was as smooth as new, glowing with a faint red light. When the cage is in use, oil it once a quarter, apply wax once every six months, and apply it every day for a period of time when there is no problem.
